Tulipwood, Cut to Your Exact Size
The painted-finish champion. Tulipwood (also sold as poplar) machines beautifully, takes paint better than almost anything, and is our best-value hardwood — planed to your precise dimensions.
Why tulipwood?
If your project is getting painted, tulipwood is almost always the right answer. It's a genuine hardwood — stable, fine-grained and crisp to machine — at a price closer to softwood. Cabinet makers use it for face frames, doors and mouldings; furniture makers for anything destined for a sprayed or brushed finish. It holds detail superbly, so profiled and routed work comes out sharp.
