Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

These terms apply to all orders placed with Thomas Matthew Timber ("we", "us", "our"), a trading name of Thomas Matthew Kitchens Ltd, Poole, Dorset. By placing an order you agree to them. Please read them carefully.

1. Ordering

You place an order by building a cut list on our website and paying online. Your order is an offer to buy; a contract is formed when we confirm and take payment. We may decline or cancel an order (with a full refund) if we cannot fulfil it.

2. Made to order

All our timber is cut and machined to the exact dimensions you specify — it is bespoke, made-to-measure goods. You are responsible for ensuring the species, dimensions and quantities you order are correct and suitable for your project. If you're unsure, please email us before ordering.

3. Prices and VAT

All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate. Delivery is calculated and added at checkout. We take care to price accurately, but if an obvious error is found we will contact you before processing your order. Prices may change, but changes won't affect orders we've already accepted.

4. Payment

Payment is taken in full before we begin machining, securely via Stripe. For large or freight-only orders that require a bespoke delivery quote, we'll confirm the cost by email and send a secure payment link.

5. The timber itself

Timber is supplied planed all round (PAR) to your specified finished dimensions, to a tolerance of approximately ±0.5mm. Timber is a natural material: colour, grain, figure and small sound knots vary between boards and may differ from photographs on our website. Solid timber will also move slightly with changes in humidity. These are natural characteristics, not faults.

6. Delivery and collection

Lead times are typically 5–10 working days and are estimates, not guarantees. Delivery charges are calculated from the longest piece and total weight of your order. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery (or collection). Free collection is available from our Poole workshop by arrangement. If a delivery fails because no one is available to receive it, re-delivery charges may apply.

7. Cancellations and returns

Because our timber is cut to your specification, your statutory right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not apply once we've begun making your order. Full details are in our Returns & Refunds policy, including what happens if your order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect.

8. Our liability

We are not liable for losses caused by your supplying incorrect dimensions or species, by misuse, or for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability for any order is limited to the value of that order. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be excluded under law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes fall under the jurisdiction of its courts.

10. Contact
