Why Douglas fir?

Douglas fir punches well above the softwood class: exceptional strength-to-weight, excellent stability, and a warm pinkish-tan colour with a bold, straight grain that looks superb left exposed. It's the architect's favourite for visible structural work — beams, posts, lintels — and a pleasure for joinery, with moderate natural durability that suits sheltered exterior use.

What we supply

Kiln-dried Douglas fir, supplied planed all round (PAR) to your finished sizes — machined to around ±0.5mm on spiral cutter blocks in our Poole workshop.
